History of Glasgow International Airport
In April 1963 a former Second World War RAF bomber base was converted for civil use. After an extensive refurbishment, Teesside Airport opened to the public in 1966.
In 1987 Teesside Airport was privatised and became Teesside International Airport. As part of a recent, multi-million pound redevelopment plan, Teesside Airport changed its name to Durham Tees Valley Airport and it will also see extensive changes and improvements being made to both the inside and outside the Airport in the near future.
